Or it means Canon will obsolesce the EOS M in favor of a revised APS-C line with the RF (or compatible) mount. In which case, people who’ve already sunk money into the system are, well, you do the math.

Oooh, the mount swap is great news, if it is reasonably priced, that could make switching systems to the L mount a much better proposition for those already in deep with ART lenses.

That is a nice combo, I realy like the 28-135 because it is such a practical range, but I use it with the A7RIII because it gives me the crop option. Didn’t get the FS7 because it was too heavy and for long term shoots I would probably need to use my easyrig, throwing big eng cameras around for almost 30 years doesn’t seem to be that great for your shoulders

It’s possible that Gerena’s version of the Metabones V has a very small but influential defect. Jumping over to the tremolo revealed a nice, clear sine-wave throb that’s ideal for vintage-style swamp modulation. Increasing depth will gradually drown out the dry mix, and full-clockwise settings will produce a choppy, almost sawtooth-like stutter at moderate rates that translates to twitching ray-gun effects at faster speeds. A Les Paul was perfect for driving the classic, jet-plane sweep of the flange effect. Not all flangers do this well, but with heavy depth settings, and the rate around 9 o’clock, Utilty Knife’s flanger delivered the smooth taper in the waveforms that generates a warmer, more complex “whoosh.” It’s great for ’80s Anglo-pop tones, too. By bringing the rate to 10 o’clock and depth around 2, I achieved the eerie swirl of the Cure’s “A Forest.”

Fast lenses, for a lot of video shooting, become not very practical because your DOF becomes so shallow at say, F1.8 or even 2.8. I have nothing against FF as a format but when you use it for video, it can become a hindrance with FOV, focus and lens speed. Not insurmountable but an inconvenience if you come from the S35/APS-C/M43 world.

If the body had lower-priced matching lenses, I do think that starting off with the cheaper model rather than the pro would have been a smart move. If there are any issues, Canon has the chance to iron out the bugs before unleashing it on more demanding pros. It also gives the camera a chance to build up some word-of-mouth buzz (or not) before the consumer holiday shopping season starts, though it also gives Nikon a chance to see how well its higher price is received before announcing the price of the Z6. 

Some people are speculating that since Leica is Panasonic’s long-time lens partner that Panasonic might use the SL-Mount that Leica uses for its SL mirrorless, though I kind of hope not, since those lenses are really big. What would likely make sense is hybrid mount that could also take MFT lenses for a crop mode.
