We found this problem a couple of years ago (it’s in a YT video). It happens with both the Metabones and Sigma (mostly towards the corners). It starts around 20mm or so and gets worse as you get wider. Maybe it’s because the Sony E-mount is narrower than Canon and the light from superwides enters at a very steep angle.

I think it is fair to say that not having in body stabilization is a major disappointment for a new platform starting on a blank sheet of paper.

Tiny Toolbox As the streamlined control set suggests, Southampton did a great job job of reducing these modulation effects to essentials. The chunkier, 4-way rotary knob selects the desired effect, while the three topmost knobs alter rate, depth, and volume. Input and output jacks are located at the top of the box, along with the 9V, barrel-style power adaptor input. There is no battery option.

Burggraf said once this is over, Liberty Ridge plans on having a little party to celebrate and help settle the inconveniences.

Another CCA, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, is “moving ahead with a plan to absorb an estimated $25 million in added fees that would otherwise fall on the agency’s CleanPowerSF energy customers next year,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The agency cited higher-than-expected “exit fees” that customers must pay when they leave Pacific Gas & Electric to join the CCA.

It seems like a matter of when, not if, Canon and Nikon will enter the high-end, full-frame mirrorless market. But will any system they release accommodate legacy lenses?Last week I wrote an article in which a supposed “internal document” from Fujifilm suggested Canon and Nikon will lose 50% of their market share within three years. Naturally, this created a lot of healthy discussion among Fstoppers members and the article has had almost 100 comments to date. Many of the issues brought up in the comments related to mirrorless systems and what will happen if and when Canon and Nikon enter the mirrorless market.

But the prices. The first lens to ship will be a 50mm f1.2L USM in October for… $2,300. Yes, it can focus as close as 0.6 inches (15mm), which is yummy. But in comparison, the current EF-mount 50mm f1.2 USM is $1,450. In December, there will be a 28-70mm f2L USM for $3,000 and a 35mm f1.8 Macro IS STM for $500 (it supports Canon’s hybrid electronic/optical image stabilization). While the 24-105mm f4L isn’t slated to ship standalone until December — for $1,100 — given that it’s part of the launch kit that lens will obviously be available earlier.  It incorporates Canon’s next-generation Nano USM motor.

Fountain, Colo., Water Department Foreman Justin Moore was working to remove perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) that were detected in the water supply in 2016. While it was not mandatory to remove the contaminants, the city decided it was best to filter out the PFCs for the benefit of residents’ health. 

Much like the Nikon Z platform, Canon opted for a single memory card slot, which is sure to enrage the masses. Unfortunately, it also kept the same 1.7x crop factor for 4K video shooting that is present in the 5D Mark IV. Since there’s no in-body image stabilization on board, that crop factor can be an issue for vloggers, who may need to shoot wider than the native RF 24-105mm lens will allow. 

I don’t think there is a significant clamor for a smaller body than a Rebel or a 7D. I sure don’t want a smaller body. Lighter, fine…but if they come up with nifty new things to do with the space, it wouldn’t bother me even to keep with the same weight.
