Fast lenses, for a lot of video shooting, become not very practical because your DOF becomes so shallow at say, F1.8 or even 2.8. I have nothing against FF as a format but when you use it for video, it can become a hindrance with FOV, focus and lens speed. Canon’s EF->RF adaptor is native, with full electronics. Other manufacturers – if they ever get around to emulating the electronics – would have to reverse engineer it, like Metabones does.
Canon on the other hand has a huge choice: they could stick with the EF mount and offer truly effortless conversion but that means foregoing the flange-distance advantage on lens designs shorter than, say, 50mm. Still even if they had a new mount, a fully function and compatible adapter for the EF is vastly easier to engineer and produce than Nikon’s options.

Yes, many photographers use FullFrame lenses on crop sensors, for two reasons: longer focal lenses and better lenses quality build. The APSC lenses selection is limited, and deserve better.
Just like all Novoflex products, the new lens adapters are made in Germany and should offer a high-quality solution. From past experience using Novoflex products, I would expect them to adapt your lenses and attach to the camera mount without any of that nasty wiggle that you get from using cheaper adapters. All the adapters offer a high precise correction of the flange focal distance to permit focusing to infinity. In addition, the versions for Minolta AF/Sony Alpha, Nikon F and Pentax K have a built-in aperture control and can even be used with lenses which do not come with an own aperture control ring.
Sadly, Canon’s the last holdout sticking with optical stabilization — making its lenses bigger, heavier and more expensive. This leaves us at the mercy of Canon’s decision as to which lenses deserve IS.

In what is becoming typical Panasonic fashion, they are announcing cameras long before you can actually purchase one. Both the S1R and the S1 won’t be available till sometime in 2019. Panasonic is being very cagey with the specifications and we aren’t likely to know anything more about the camera until early 2019.
