SPEARFISH — There’s light at the end of the tunnel for the completion of the woodstave penstock replacement project taking place between the Forebay area and standpipes above the Spearfish hydroelectric plant, though not for long, as Spearfish Creek flow has started to get diverted through the new 1,200-foot-long, 48-inch-diameter high-density polyethylene pipe this week.

Canon does not have that luxury today. Professionals aren’t going to be thrilled about taking that kind of bath, nor, for that matter will most people with more than one lens. There will be a whole lot of people taking that opportunity to make sure some other manufacturer isn’t offering something more…and unlike 1987, we’ve all heard that another manufacturer is.

The Nikon Z7 and Nikon Z6 are designed to go toe-to-toe with high-end DSLRs, and they both have price tags that reflect that. The Z7 will be available on September 27th with a price tag of $3,400. The Z6 will hit stores in late November with a price tag of $1,996. When paired with the new 24-70mm lens, the Z7 and the Z6 will cost $4,000 and $2,600, respectively.

Canon would be dumb as hell to orphan the EF mount. A really tight EF-to-M adapter sold with the lens might serve as an acceptable bridge, but abandoning current customers will likely sink them.

In Australia, prices are set by the dealers, but the body directly converts to roughly AU$3,200 and the kit AU$4,700. In the UK the body is £2,350 and the kit £3,270.

So I stuck with Canon then…but only because there wasn’t a really viable option, and Canon took a huge leap over Nikon–that’s when you started seeing all those white lenses on sports sidelines.

Sigma is all in. Will have ART lenses with L Mount. They will even do a mount swap if you want for a fee. I’m also surprised they went with the Fujifilm style LCD screen. I believe it has something to do with weather proofing that hinge. People want it but they don’t seem to think it’s important. Bummer.
